TCPIP$TELNET_HELP.HLB  —  SET  ERASE
    Sets the erase character.

    The erase character deletes, either locally or remotely, the last
    character in the type-ahead buffer. (This character has no effect
    in binary mode.)

    Use this command if either your terminal or the remote system
    does not recognize the default erase character, the Delete key.

    Enter the following sequence of characters:

    1. Opening quotation marks

    2. A circumflex ( ^ )

    3. The new erase character

    4. Closing quotation marks

    DCL Format

      SET ERASE  "^character"

    UNIX Format

      set erase  "^character"
