1  –  alias port (OpenVMS)

    shut [node node-id] alias port port-name

    Places the specified alias port in the shut state. In this state no
    further alias connection requests are honored.  All existing alias
    connections will remain until closed by their clients, at which time
    the alias port is placed in the off state.

    Example:

    shut node dec:.lkg.true -      ! No further connections to the BULEAN
       alias port dec:.lkg.bulean  !  alias will be accepted on node TRUE.
                                   !  Other nodes participating in the
                                   !  BULEAN alias will continue to accept
                                   !  connections.

2  –  session_control

    shut [node node-id] session control

    Places session control in the shut state. In this state no
    further connection requests are honored. It continues to service
    existing connections. When all connections have been closed by
    their clients, it is placed in the off state.
