Library /sys$common/syshlp/EVE$HELP.HLB  —  EXIT
  EXIT

Ends the editing session and, typically, writes out your edits to a new
file or a new version of an existing file.

  Key: EVE default WPS keypad
         ------------------------------------------
         CTRL/Z or F10 GOLD-F
         CTRL/D (on ULTRIX)

  Steps:

  1. Use the EXIT command (see key list above).

EVE then writes out the current buffer if it has been modified. If
there is no file associated with the buffer---if you invoked EVE
without specifying an input file or if you created the buffer with the
BUFFER or NEW command---EVE asks you for an output file name.

  2. If you modified other text buffers and have not yet written them out,
EVE asks if you want to write out each of those buffers and, if
necessary, asks for the output file names to use.

  Usage notes:

o If you did NOT modify any text buffers, or if you already have written
out all your edits, EXIT is the same as QUIT. No new files or new
     versions are produced.

o By default, EXIT or QUIT prompts you whether to save attributes if you
changed any during the editing session (for example, if you enabled
pending delete, box-style selections, visible tabs, and so on):

        Command: EXIT
Attributes were changed. Save them [YES]?

If you want to save attributes, simply press RETURN---EVE then does a
SAVE ATTRIBUTES before continuing with the exit. If you do not want to
save attributes, type No and press RETURN. For more information, see
     help on Attributes.

o If you do not want EXIT or QUIT to prompt you about saving attributes,
use (and save) SET NOEXIT ATTRIBUTE CHECK. However, this setting does
not apply to your current editing session, but only to subsequent
sessions when you use the section file or command file in which you
     saved the setting.

o If you are accustomed to EDT, you may want to redefine CTRL/Z as DO, to
     emulate EDT-style exit-to-line-mode.

     +------------------------------------------------+
     | On ULTRIX systems, EVE defines CTRL/D as EXIT. |
     | On VMS systems, EVE does not define CTRL/D. |
