The Copy menu item in the Edit menu copies the selected
  portion of text into the clipboard.

  This is useful for copying details into another
  application, for example to fill in a text block in a
  paint program, or to insert a detail into a Calendar
  meeting agenda.

  If you want to copy the whole topic, it is easier to
  use the Select All menu item.
