vtServer Configuration Advice
The formula for calculating the number of CPU cores in the host
running VMS2 is:
(the total amount of Alpha CPU's * 1.5)
With the found OpenVMS configuration: (1 * 1.5) = 2
The formula for calculating the host memory needed for a host
running VMS2 is:
(the total amount of Alpha memory * 1.25) + (total number of disks * 125) + (number of tapeunits * 100) + 1024 MB
With the found OpenVMS configuration: (2048 * 1.25) + (3 * 125) + (1 * 100) + 1024 = 4059 MB
In this calculation only the currently mounted disks are used.
Disclaimer:
The value of memory and number of CPUs is the minimum value needed
and also depends on the use of the emulator.
These values are often not sufficient on a heavily used emulator.
