System Management in Control
Certo Certius
more surely than sure

On all OpenVMS servers the procedue SYSTEMCHECK is active.
This procedure executes a lot of control actions on the system.

One off these control actions executed by SYSTEMCHECK is to report every 15 minutes to the SMiC server that the procedure is
still up-and-running. SYSTEMCHECK will update a file on the SMiC server every 15 minutes, so the SMiC server "knows" that
SYSTEMCHECK is still active.

"System availability" reads that updated file and makes a simple graphic view so you can see in one view what is the status of all
the servers controlled bij SMiC.

The example shows us that the OpenVMS server on sunday february, the 7th, reported the whole day to the SMiC server.

On the SMiC server a batchjob is running to ping some non OpenVMS systems, so this can be logged, and we can see them in
the availability overview.
