Backup Module
The backup module has a lot of settings.
These settings will be read by the backup procedure at the moment the job starts. This is why it is possible to change backup behavior at any moment. The settings will automatically be used by the next backup job.
The backup module supports three different backup destinations:
- Disk
- Tape unit, physical or virtual
- AVT tape unit, with the use off TAPEMGR
When the backup destination is a disk, a directory can be given to store the last full backup off the month. How many full backups must be stored can be configured.
When the AVT tapemgr is used, the complete tape handling will be done by the backup job. No manual intervention is needed.
It is possible to setup a backup destination per disk. This makes it possible to have a backup from one disk to a disk device, and for another disk to a tape.
The backup has the most extensive messaging possibilities of all modules.
