Availability
Availability is important for OpenVMS nodes, so SMiC has different ways to check and signal this.
- Every node will PING every node to see whether these nodes are available.
- Every node must make contact with the master node every 10 minutes. When a client node does not make contact with the master node for more than 20 minutes a message will be send.
By using all the nodes in the netwerk to check the other nodes, this check does not dependent on the master node.
The contact moments for all the client with the master node will be saved on the master node.
The web interface uses this data to make an easy to understand availability view.
