What is Majordomo? Majordomo is a popular mailing list management tool originally written for Unix by Brent Chapman of Great Circle Associates and ported to OpenVMS by Karol Zielonko of HP. It is available as unsupported freeware. Support: At the present time OpenVMS Majordomo is not supported software. Documentation: The OpenVMS Majordomo kit contains readme files for each subcomponent you need to install to make OpenVMS Majordomo work. Further, pertinent documentation from Unix Majordomo is also included in the kit. The Majordomo commands, for example, are same for Unix and OpenVMS and so it is left it to the Unix doc's to describe them. UCX version compatibility: With the specially built UCX SMTP images included in the OpenVMS Majordomo kit you can also run it on UCX V4.1. Other Caveats: In order to run OpenVMS Majordomo you need OpenVMS Perl running on your system. The OpenVMS Majordomo kit contains pointers information to get it. How to get the kit: The kit such as it is is a uuencoded ZIP file. The zip files are available publicly in the vms-majordomo-users archive.
