Version V9.7 of the Logical Disk utility can be installed on the following VMS versions: OpenVMS Alpha: V7.3-2 V8.2 V8.3 V8.4 and up OpenVMS IA64: V8.2-1 V8.3 V8.3-1H1 V8.4 and up Older versions will probably work, but this has not been tested. This version is NOT supported on OpenVMS VAX, LD V8.3 is the last version to support VAX. The reason is that LD makes heavy use of 64-bit arithmetic and system services. For that reason it will for certain not work on VMS versions below V7.0. The utility and driver can be recreated from the sources provided in the kit, which can be copied to disk during installation. There's a procedure to build the facility (LD_BUILD.COM). A couple of example commandfiles are provided during installition in SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.LD]. If selected during installation the sources will be placed in SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.LD.SRC]. Help can be obtained by entering $ HELP LD (or $ LD HELP). If the system has no allocation class specified, and the system name ended in LD then LD SHOW/ALL or LD DISCONNECT/ALL would give an error when it selected the wrong device.
