Preface 1.1 Purpose of these Release Notes This document provides information for HP DECwindows Motif V1.7 for OpenVMS. 1.2 Intended Audience This manual is intended for users, system managers, and programmers who work with HP DECwindows Motif for OpenVMS. 2. New Features - DECwindows Motif V1.7 provides support for Translated images (Integrity servers only). - On OpenVMS Integrity servers V8.3 or later DECwindows Motif V1.7 kit support for TIE is provided. - During runtime translated images expect the shareables with _AV suffix. 3. General Information 3.1 Problems Fixed in This Release 3.1.1 Add/Delete Options to Frontpanel/Subpanel not Working The ADD SUBPANEL or DELETE SUBPANEL options from appropriate frontpanel popup menu appears even when the control is locked. 3.1.2 DTPAD Unable to Save or Open Remote File DTPAD application is not able to save or open remote files. ("node::disk:[dir]file.ext" in file open or file save dialogue box displays an error message). 3.1.3 Unable to Access the Resource Upon specifying the resource Dtwm*VMSLockFP as "True" in DTWM.DAT file, the resource is not accessible. 3.1.4 DTWM Crashes when Subpanel is Deleted New Desktop Window Manager crashes when subpanel of some controls such as DECterm, Mail, Calendar, Clock, Application Manager and Style Manager are deleted. This crash is occurs only when extra icons are added to the subpanel. 3.1.5 DELETE Option is Missing from the Subpanel Popup Menu The DELETE option is missing from the subpanel popup menu. 3.1.6 Problem with Failsafe Session Logout The CDE login box fails to come up on performing the following sequence of steps; 1) Login using the system account into a New Desktop session and log out. 2) Login using an user account into a failsafe session and log out. 3.1.7 Exact Case Aliases for Universal Symbols X libraries provide many APIs that are used by application writers to perform windowing operations. On VMS all X library API names are in uppercase. Many customers require to compile their code with "/NAMES= (AS_IS)" compiler option. This causes name resolution issues while linking against the X library. For example if an application uses a X library API such as "XOpenDisplay", the VMS X library entry point for this API is "XOPENDISPLAY", if the application is compiled with the above mentioned options the name resolution fails. To get around this issue application writers can use a construct such as # define XOpenDisplay XOPENDISPLAY The DECwindows libraries listed below are now provided with exact case aliases for entry points. Hence, the above mentioned work around while using "/NAME = (AS_IS)" is not needed. 3.1.8 Alignment Faults (OpenVMS Integrity servers) On executing the debug application using DECwindows interface, a large number of memory alignment problems are observed. The alignment faults eminating from the DECwindows libraries have now been fixed. 3.1.9 DxImageViewer Crashes on Opening JPEG or TIFF image file with 24-bit Pixel Depth DxImageViewer crashes on opening any image file (JPEG or TIFF) with 24-bit pixel depth. 3.1.10 DECterm creation takes Long Time (OpenVMS Integrity server) Sometime creating the first instance of DECterm from non-privileged account on an Itanium 8.3 system takes upto 60 seconds. 3.1.11 CREATE/TERM ACCVIO after DWMOTIF V1.6 ECO1 is Installed After installing DWMOTIF V1.6 ECO1 on OpenVMS Alpha V8.3, the CREATE /TERM with DECnet as transport might cause an ACCVIO error. 3.1.12 Applications Using the Function DtCreateHelpDialog() May Crash After DWMOTIF V1.6 ECO1 is Installed DECwindows Motif/Japanese applications that use of the function DtCreateHelpDialog() may crash after installing DWMOTIF V1.6 ECO1. 3.1.13 Desktop Windows Manager (DTWM) hangs on DELETE/ERASE Operation Manipulating CDE windows at the graphics console when the DELETE/ERASE operation is in progress, the DTWM process hangs. This affects the system and prevents performing any other operations until the DELETE/ERASE operation is complete. 3.1.14 DTWM crash when using shortcuts A customized Root Menu was created by modifying sys.dtwmrc. Some of the actions on this menu have accelerators associated with them. The accelerators work fine as long as the menu has not been popped up.The normal behavior is that the accelerators should continue to work even when the menu is being displayed. 3.1.15 Decwindows Process loops upon network failure / hiccups Customer Application get into a loop in the Decwindows / Motif as a result of a network failure / hiccups, or the abrupt stopping of the workstation where the application is displayed. © Copyright 2010 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
