Comparing the Contents of Files Use the Compare command to determine the differences between two files. To compare the contents of two files: 1. Select the first file you want to compare. 2. Choose the ellipsis (...) next to the Compare command on FileView's Commands menu. FileView displays the Compare dialog box. 3. Type in the name of the second file in the To entry field. 4. Click on the OK button. The task list box reports that the files are being compared. The Show File task output window opens, displaying all lines in the files you specified that do not match. By default, FileView compares the file to the previous version of the file. To compare the selected file to a file other than its previous version, type another file specification in the To entry field of the Compare dialog box.
