Cut

  The Cut menu item allows you to remove a portion of the
  image to the clipboard for later use without leaving a copy of
  it on the canvas.

  After you select the portion you want to remove, choose Cut
  from the Edit menu.

  The portion you selected is copied to the clipboard.
