  Creating Overlapping Entries

To create an entry for a timeslot that is partially or
completely occupied by an existing entry, click (or click and
drag) on the timeslot, as if there were no overlap. Calendar
opens a new entry for you at the specified time. You can
overlap as many entries as you like.

You can display overlapping entries in one of two ways. You
designate your preferred method by using the Stacking option
in the Day view dialog box, which you can access from the
  Options menu.
